Madelyn Bowers

Madelyn is a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing classical piano since the age of six. Classical music is her first love, but as time went on she began to learn other instruments such as the fiddle and guitar and became increasingly interested in folk music. Growing up in Kentucky, Madelyn had access to world-class bluegrass musicians every summer where she would study fiddle and then continue to study classical piano during the school year. These experiences gave Madelyn the perspective of how interconnected musical style and genres are, and presently uses this experience in her teaching style.

While she ended up focusing on classical piano, earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music at Loyola Chicago, she recognizes that a holistic musical knowledge is what allows students to reach a well-rounded musical voice and maturity. Using this knowledge, Madelyn focuses on fostering a welcoming learning environment where every student’s goals are heard. She lets her students guide what they want out of their lessons while being a supportive role through their musical journeys. She welcomes all students interested in piano, especially those looking for a classical based background.
