From a young age, Marlene has always had an interest in music. She has played various instruments such as the piano, clarinet, bass clarinet, and the Venezuelan Harp. Choosing to focus on piano as her main instrument, she has devoted her time in school to study performance and Pedagogy at the University of Oregon. Marlene has gained various experiences through her years as a pianist such as being on the board for University of Oregon’s MTNA chapter (music teacher’s national association), where she’s had the pleasure of helping organize UO’s yearly piano festivals, and community recitals.
She has given masterclasses at the University to beginner pianists alongside her peers, and has taught in Eugene and virtually for the past few years. Marlene loves working with students of all ages and backgrounds. Lessons are meant to be a safe space for students to come into. The goal is always to make lessons something to look forward to and to help students find their love for piano.
To her, the students are always the top priority, with no two students being the same. Connecting with students is crucial and she hopes to make learning music fun and productive for her students!
